We're finally getting into some of the incidental Undertale songs from the new album, and I wanted to first show off the songs with collaborators! Ghost Fight is one of the first songs you hear in Undertale that really flips the RPG soundtrack expectations, featuring the down-in-the-dumps but lovable ghost Nabstablook and a fun swing beat! I wanted to combine a bit of Pantera's "Psycho Holiday" or Van Halen's Hot For Teacher shuffle with the original, which led to some really fast guitar riffs I didn't expect! The lead melodies are already quite bluesy, which led to the song being just a lot of fast fun! I also like the quick ragtime breaks that let me do some more walking basslines than the rest of the album. Of course the crowning point for me is dueling with String Player Gamer, a friend and role model Youtuber who's been creating fun videos and technically exciting violin+rock covers for some time! Another special aspect is I got my friend Jonathan, who's also rocking a trivia/science channel I've linked below, to help camerawork safely and the result is one of my favorite looking videos in a while!
Back at many MAGFest conventions, I've had the pleasure of jamming with Diwa and he's one of my favorite people to trade solos and play with! I wanted to capture just a bit of our spirit in this solo section, which became a common presentation across Fallen Hero, so I created a backing section that runs through the G scale and allows for some really cool playing! You can even tell he plays off my licks and vice versa, and to the unexpecting ear SPG's violin shreddery sounds even gnarlier than the guitars! Thank you for joining me for this ghostly boogie and everyone check out his channel and music! Meantime I've gotta film more.. Undertale.. maybe I'll just lie down for a bit... really not feeling it right now 👻
