Sector Y/Solar is a really fun track from Star Fox 64, playing into the fact that the game is trying to score story points just as much as create exciting flying music. When I started this album, I knew that the "JAWS-esque" staccato would work so well on 8 string in Drop E tuning, but to notice how many double-stops and crunchy harmonies you can play on lead guitar was even more exciting. I wanted the rhythms to be the march that keeps Team Star Fox going while the creepy leads and strings give a bit of melodic hope afterwards. The guitar solo is modeled a bit after Kirk Hammett's in "The Thing That Should Not Be" in its structure too!
