Tried out this early access indie game recently and I had a lot of fun with it so I decided to make this video. The game doesn't have a ton of content, but what's there feels really nice to play imo. I'm a newbie when it comes to character action games, but I tried my best lol.
Her DM is basically Larxene's... that's my wife!!!

Run Overview:
After my Leia run, I pretty much know exactly what to expect from X1. Since Milla is a higher tier character than Leia, Im going to be limiting myself by using the Lilium Orb progression. You actually cant carry over artes and skills in this game, so going by Lilium Orb progression means I wont have access to all my fancy artes and movement options right from the get go. In any case, Im super excited for this run since Ive always been a fan of Millas playstyle but never practiced it too much so Im looking forward to how much I can improve at her throughout the run!
As for an overview of Milla herself, shes an aerial oriented magic knight. While Ill be limited in aerial combos since its X1, Im still very excited to be able to show off the best aerial mobility the game has to offer later in the run when I have access to all of my skills. I also love casting spells in these games so Im definitely gonna try to incorporate those a lot! A drawback to all of her aerial mobility is that she has one of the worst backsteps in the game... which will actually be a factor that makes some fights more difficult.
Oh, something else to note is that Ive decided to use the Magic Stance normals throughout the run (the normals that usually only get used for this fight). I thought itd be fun and unique although its not really that impactful since they are just normals after all. Still, theres some cool things I can do with them against humanoid bosses so I decided to use them since the option is there.
Strategy:
Girl in Red is a fairly easy first boss. She can be guard manipulated into using her Burning Wheel arte and counters using Blazing Ring and Grand Fire which are both easy to backstep and also punish. If you dont know what guard manipulation is, it basically means that shell always use a specific attack if she queues an attack while Im guarding. Its quite useful for controlling most bosses, but its not always beneficial and not all bosses can be guard manipulated.
In this fight, I have access to 6 artes: Efreet, Undine, Sylph, Gnome, Fire Ball, and Wind Lance. Although Fire Ball and Wind Lance can be spirit shifted into their melee forms (tapping Millas spells instead of holding them down will use the melee variant of them) of Flare Bomb and Wind Blade so its technically 8 artes. Normally, this fight pretty much just ends after I use Undine a couple of times, but I decided to lower my stats a bit so we could have a bit more of a fight. This does also mean that I have to deal with her iron stance a bit more since I lowered my stats. The best ways I found to deal with iron stance (that dont have to do with the Four Great Spirits) were to open with a spell like Fire Ball or Wind Lance. My strong neutral normal was also pretty effective at breaking her iron stance. The strong normal is the big ball of light that I use at 1:06 for example. To be honest, this fight is a joke as Milla since she can actually just spam Undine/Sylph/Efreet and win for free but obviously I wanted to show more than that.
Since I lose the Four after this fight for a very long time, I decided to showcase all of the artes here. Efreet/Sylph/Undine are pretty similar in that theyre ranged multi-hit artes with a bit of a wind-up. Efreets early hits re-stand and Sylphs later hits re-stand so theyve got some utility there. I utilized Efreets re-stand to follow up after my launcher normals at 0:59 which knock down. Gnome is a bit more difficult to use since its a high committal, short range, and multi-hit attack. I decided to just use it here as a guard break.
As for Wind Lance/Blade and Flare Bomb/Fireball, I used the spell versions of them to break iron stance and I tried to use the two melee variants in interesting ways in conjunction with my normals. For instance, I liked using my strong normal attack to pull them in for Flare Bomb and using Wind Blade to re-stand after my strong launcher normal. I could also use Wind Blade to re-stand and then pull them back in with a strong normal. All these chains are fun to do with no skills and only two artes :D

![Tales of the Abyss Anise Solo: Sync 2 [No Items/Unknown/No Damage]
Time for the hardest 1v1 human fight in the game!
Game Modifications:
-Modified P. and F. ATK
-Unlocked doll artes
-Modified party
Strategy:
So... Sync 2 is a menace as far as 1v1 fights go. Hes fast, casts fast, has Frigid Coffin, and has some of the most iron stance in the game. Basically, this means that I have to find whatever casting windows I can against him in order for me to attack. The best way to do so is to punish one of his spell casts. Its similar to Legretta but its harder in Syncs case. His main three spells are Turbulence, Ground Dasher, and Thunder Blade. Most of the time, I wont be able to out-cast Turbulence even if I start way earlier than him because it casts so fast. Thunder Blade can be a problem since it comes from the direction hes facing. This means that even if I cast and he gets Thunder Blade off, I wont be able to punish the stagger. Also, it can be a problem if Im near a wall since I simply cant dodge it without moving away from it. Ground Dasher is pretty free though, it takes a bit to cast and its easy to dodge. Each time I try to punish after he does a spell cast is a bit of a gamble though. Sync will sometimes sit there and only cast spells and sometimes hell cast a spell and then just run at me. Due to his speed, this is a big problem since he will outrun my spell aiming reticle. So I generally try to make a read based off of... nothing on whether hell keep casting or run at me. Something else I tried was keeping the reticle in between us and then waiting to see what he does but this can lead to a delay in the desired result which can also be bad.
I can also punish his arcane artes: Stone Dragon Ascent and Cyclone Blaze. These artes have a long duration so its easy to cast after he does one of these.
Sync has three spells that hell only cast at certain HP thresholds. In order, these are: Flare Tornado, Gravity Well, and Frigid Coffin. Flare Tornado and Gravity Well arent too big of an issue. Frigid Coffin is rather infamous as it causes a hitbox to appear the moment it spawns right at my feet. Its especially hard for Anise to dodge this so I opted to cancel it with OVL as soon as I see it come out. Its pretty late in the fight so I really want to make sure Im on keeping track of that.
As for why I used Inspect Eye... I told @mystearia5441 I was going to use it against Sync 2 and I couldnt go back on my word.

Iron stance king returns. Dont ask me why my recording is so laggy on the Cyclone, Idk either lol.
Game Modifications:
-Modified the party
-Modified Milla hair color
Strategy:
Rowen is weak to fire and hammer here, but he has a ton of iron stance which can make starting a combo on him a bit tricky. Sigil Spear in X2 has a property where it breaks iron stance more effectively, so I used that combined with Lightning to whittle down at his iron stance. Once his iron stance breaks, I can attempt to start a combo with Lightning as it hits fire and wind at the same time.
I do a weakness reset with Lightning at 0:26 as well. Rowen tries to break out of the combo by countering since Im not hitting him during the weakness combo, but his aerial counter is his aerial Overlimit and he lands before he can get it off so it gets canceled. This allows me to start a new weakness combo without him countering.

Witness what humans are truly capable of!
I wont lie, this fight is the primary reason I did this run lol. Had to rely on Sigil Spear quite a bit but I think my combo came out pretty well :)

Strategy:
Gaius 1 was actually... pretty hard! The strategy is simple: hit Gaius a lot and dodge all of his counters. I want to him to be constantly countering because he cannot be guard manipulated and his attack options are quite dangerous and unpredictable. He also has an arte called Swallow Fury that leads to instant death so I really dont want him using that. Its a lot easier on paper than it is in execution though. I cant rely on any of my aerial tricks this time because his aerial Sonic Thrust counter is ridiculously fast and will punish and aerial shenanigans (you can see it in action at 1:37). I have to be hitting him on the ground and dodge all of his counters with my backsteps... and Milla has one of the worst backsteps in the game (there are differences in the backsteps in terms of how many i-frames they have). This just means I have to be very on point with all of my backsteps. To add onto this, Gaius has a lot of iron stance to break through. My best option on the ground was Sigil Spear due to the fact that it does a lot of hits. If he guards, then I do a jump cancel and do Lightning to break the guard then air dash forwards to do Sigil Spear. Normally, I use Grave to break iron stance but proccing aerial Sonic Thrust a bunch? No thanks.
Luckily, this fight isnt without aerial combat due to Gaius 1 having a unique quirk where he can be aerial combod from 50% to 25% HP. This was my first time ever doing a Milla combo and it was really fun to lab out! I will admit to getting really nervous whenever I started doing the combo in these takes though... the 100%-50% HP part of the fight is easily the hardest part of the fight. After my combo, the fight becomes very easy. This is because Gaius unlocks Incineration Wave as a counter which is very slow and easy to dodge. I can just Radiant Rondo behind him and punish. The rest of the fight pretty much plays out like the first half with the inclusion of this easy counter.

Are we back? (kinda)
I havent actually been playing toooo much Tales recently, but Ive had Act One of X2 Milla recorded for a while, so I figure Ill start uploading it now.
Game Modifications:
-Modified the party
Run Overview:
This run is generally going to be similar to my Leia run. Im usually gonna try to do no Power Charge 2/3 unless I deem the fight to be super boring without it (mostly for Chronos 2/3 if I cant find anything fun to do on those guys). Milla also has a unique arc in this game as shes separated into Fractured Milla and Prime Milla. Im going to do a few things to differentiate the two. First, Im not going to use the artes that Fractured Milla doesnt normally have access to (which are Elemental Shot and her summon spirit artes) but Ill make an exception and use her MA in one fight :p. Second, Im going to be using background music thats given to me by my friends and other Tales players. In the case of this video, Jakkun provided this BGM! This is just to give the Fractured Milla fights a bit of a different vibe from my usual stuff.
Strategy:
Milla is a very powerful character in X2. In this sense, shes a lot simpler than Leia strategically as I wont have to struggle to start power combos or anything. For a lot of these short/early videos, the strategy sections will be fairly sparse. Thats just because I wont have a ton to say, sorry!
For Spirius Gatekeeper: You basically just run up to it and beat it up.
Since that was so short, Ill talk about some of the differences between X1 and X2 Milla. Weve got a couple of new toys to play with as Fractured Milla. These are Z-Slasher, Mystic Wheel, Luminous Chamber/Forcefield, a new launcher normal (seen at 0:11), and having the ability to lower cast times based off of the length of the arte chain. Z-Slasher and Mystic Wheel are grounded melee artes which are... kinda bad, but they have their uses which well see as we go on. Luminous Chamber spirit shifts into Forcefield and its our new Arcane Arte. This arte is actually quite fun and does a lot of damage in both forms, so Im going to try and use it quite a bit. Forcefield also gives i-frames! The biggest change that helps Milla a lot is the lowered cast time based off of arte chain length. This lets Milla easily incorporate spells into her combos which is a lot of fun, especially with the Aerial Spell Glitch.
