This is a unit which records on to an early form of floppy disk!
Disc or disk?
Mmmm.
This unit was a gift from Amberola1b, I believe he recapped it. It is from 1949, or came out in 1949 I believe, and for a magnetic recorder using tape-like technology, that is pretty early. Brush Soundmirror days early.
Frequency response is very poor, and the unit is intended for voice recorder, namely the dictation of young children, as it is intended as a toy. A plug-in vacuum tube toy.
Recording time is quite short, probably only a couple minutes or so. With a old 5 1/4 inch floppy, you can record a few seconds on the last track.
