In this video, we look at ionic bonding between group 1 metals and group 7 non-metals. We start by looking at why elements react in terms of their outer electron shell. We then look at ionic bonding between the group 1 element lithium and the group 7 element fluorine. I show you how to calculate the charges on the ions produced during ionic bonding. I then show you a typical exam question to try yourself and explain the answer.
