Even the mob needs decent tradesmen. It makes sense but still sounds funny — gangland mechanics are out there, wielding grinders not guns, welders not weapons. Even though hired hands, they now stand in court as gangsters, facing the full force of the law, including life in prison. Let me tell you about it.

The Mob Reporter here with news of three transnational organized crime syndicates that each found an unusual way to utilize blue collar skills to move white powder, with all roads — from Britain, Colombia, Spain, Switzerland and the Middle East — leading to Australia, to fill the red-hot demand.
A joint operation between police in Great Britain and Australia shut down a lucrative gangland enterprise. The men arrested in England, police allege, are rare underworld specialists — a gangland network of skilled manufacturing tradesmen creating unusual and sophisticated hiding spots for dope inside machinery for other crime groups.
Work crews with a different skill set were a part of an even larger transnational criminal network that targeted Australia — overseen by Colombians. Police say a custom, clandestine laboratory was built in rural Australia to extract and produce saleable powder from liquid base imported into Australia.
Similarly, a network was raided in Perth, Australia, after 66 kilos were found hidden in Mercedes Benz performance car tires imported from Switzerland. Six people were busted. When two men arrived to collect the import, they tested it and found it was fake — and dumped it all in an industrial waste bin in a shopping center parking lot, but police swooped in and grabbed them both.
