Well, I finally had to do it because of the patrons. So here's my video about Gamers, who we mean by the term, what their culture is and how that impacts the world around us (or if it even does.) In this video I try to answer a question a loyal patron asked, which is to what the left can or should do about Gamers.
I take some issue with the premise, but in this video I explore the origins of modern gamer culture, who we have in our head when we think of "gamers", the behaviours associated with them and how they impact upon marginalised communities particularly in the "post-Gamergate era" even if we aren't necessarily out of the shadow of that particular event.
I also try to establish why these issues may be for the left to solve and what the consequences of either inaction or abdication of our place in these spaces (depending on your view of what our current positioning is within them) are. I go on to explore what leftist action in these spaces could or should look like and begin to approach the question of deradicalisation of these spaces where people have become alienated towards the left.
