In this film you’ll see several sites from our visit to beautiful and picturesque Galway. Claddagh is a former fishing village, pretty close to the center of town. It’s the oldest part of Galway. You’ll get beautiful views of the colorful houses and the Long walk alongside the harbor from Nimmos Pier.
The nearby South Park (also called The Swamp” is nice for walks.
The two arches Spanish Arch and the Caoċ Arch were once upon a time part of the city wall. Today you can enjoy a nice dinner at Ard Bia at Nimmos in an old building close by. Wolfe Tone Bridge and O'Briens Bridge connects central town over the River Corrib.
Walking from the Quay up through town takes you via Quay Street, High Street, Shop Street and William Street to Eyre Square and John F. Kennedy Park in centre of the city.
While in Ireland, a great part of the experience is enjoying the traditional music that is played in pubs and on the streets.
Galway is no different. During this walk you’ll pass by lots of pubs, restaurants and shops such as McDonagh’s, Quay Street Kitchen, The Quays Bar & Music Hall, Lane Café at Druid Lane, Tigh Neachtain, Sonny Molloy’s, The Kings Head, Tigh Chóilí, Taaffes Bar and Garavan's Bar.
The Claddagh ring of Ireland can be seen around town, a crowned heart clasped between two hands and it is a symbol of love, friendship and loyalty.
