During the late 200s, a new feature begins showing in Gallo-Roman cities: walls and other fortifications. Typically these are all dated to the 3rd century, but archaeological work has strongly suggested that they probably were built into the 4th century as well. Because of this dating issue, there is quite a lot they can potentially tell us about gallic economic health in this period.
