On August 6, Ghana’s Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah, who died in a military helicopter crash, was laid to rest.
A Christian-style funeral was held at Black Star Square in the capital, Accra, for Minister Boamah and five other Christians who died in the August 6 crash in the Ashanti Region.
President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, former President Nana Akufo-Addo, Ghana’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, ministers, senior officials, and many others attended the ceremony.
In his address, President Mahama said, “I pray that this funeral brings peace to a grieving nation and that a new dawn will break, one in which we, as Ghanaians, can look upon a prosperous nation with pride.”
After the ceremony, the bodies were escorted in a military convoy and buried at the military cemetery in Burma Camp.
