Implementing the new analog frontend and discovering major problems …
↓↓↓ Complete description, time index and links below ↓↓↓
Last time we’ve explored alternatives to fix a major flaw of the ADC circuitry and to alleviate its other shortcomings (link below). After I decided which alternatives I wanna use I got the parts. So we’re ready now to implement the improvements.
After a recap of the circuit variants I want to implement we have a look at new circuitry on the breadboard. Tests show that it kinda works, but we see intermittend errors and somewhere along the way the noise increase two orders of magnitude.
00:00 Intro – I’ve got the part now, let’s implement
00:47 Recap – too much load on voltage reference
06:39 Breadboard 1 – with new analog frontend
11:18 Tests 1 – everything works as expected
18:13 Results 1 – kinda OK, but ridiculously noisy
22:01 Linear regulator – for the analog components
23:45 Breadboard 2 – with new linear regulator
26:11 Test 2 – something is terribly wrong
27:42 Problems – hiccups and skyrocketed noise
31:39 Wrap-up – I’ll search for the problem, bye
