After just her first year as a Civil and Environmental Engineering major at Rose-Hulman, Katerina McSweyn jumped into hands-on research exploring sustainability. Her project focuses on building a green roof model to study how native plants impact water runoff, moving beyond the traditional use of sedum on most U.S. green roofs.
From designing and constructing the model to selecting plant species and measuring runoff, Katerina is gaining valuable real-world experience while contributing new insights to sustainable engineering.
