These weapons are part of the new TRACHEA update. The freeze ray may or may not be inspired by a certain movie, while the heat ray might be inspired by a similar weapon in Terraria, in a similar fashion to the new flail weapons.
These weapons are currently found in the rare Abandoned Warehouse missions, while there are also claims of them being found very rarely in city missions as well, but I have yet to actually encounter one, so that part may or may not be incorrect.
