VFX Stock Elements Tutorial - Having fun with Laser and Explosions in After Effects
How to use stock elements within After Effects - Explosions, Fire, Laser and Fun!!
In this After Effects Tutorial by flomotion you will learn the basics of stock footage / stock elements within After Effects.
How to use them and how to use them with different blending modes. I am also going to show you where I purchase and get my footage from.
As a bonus I am going to show you how to compose the shots you see in this intro with some compositing tricks, like tracking in mocha, color grading and a lot more.
You will learn to how to create a hole in the ground and how to make it look realistic. I am also going to show you how to add extra detail layers, such as debris, smoke, dust and fire to make it look more convincing.
This tutorial is for absolute beginners as well as professionals who want to learn tips and tricks as well as workflow improvements,
You will learn how to shoot those kind of shots and how to create your first composition within after effects.
Those are the steps I am going to show you:
1. Learn how to shoot footage, so that you can later on integrate vfx stock elements into them.
2. Learn how to time, set a marker and how to import the footage element into after effects
3. Together we will track the motion of the clip within Mocha AE and apply the transform data to a separate null object to later on link and parent different elements and objects
(All the steps will be explained step by step for beginners to follow along easily)
4. Learn how to use blending modes for realistic integration
5. I will show you how to create track mattes for a better workflow and also how they help when you animate your stock elements
6. After that I am going to teach you how to add in details to your shot.
a) learn how to re-time and and how to create freeze frames
b) learn easy color correction tricks with the color wheel and hue and saturation
c) create a realistic grass matte using the roughen edges effect
d) add more detail with the advanced lightning effect
7. Create a fake jump with a combination of freezing, rotoscoping and animation together with some time adjustments in the keyframes
8. As a final step I am going to show you how to create a clean plate (in case you forgot to shot one)
As a bonus I am showing you a second shot and show you how you can create a jump using some clever masking methods.
