Hello Everyone! Today the October 2019 free music poll is live. We have another 6 tracks fighting to win. Once again a few of them are darker in nature due to Halloween being just around the bend. This time around each actually has a title already.
The first is called "Welcome to My Humble Abode." I imagined being in the company of a rather powerful and pompous villain who didn't want to kill me because he enjoyed my company in his own twisted way. Much like Jonathan Harker, I imagined I was a "guest" in the house of a terrible being who enjoyed his power over me. But most of all, he enjoyed basking in his overwhelming prowess in front of me, as if to constantly stroke his own ego and make me feel small.
Next up we have "The Long Trail." I haven't tried a western/cowboy track in a little bit and I wanted to give it a go again. I imagined being on a very long journey. The land is vast and dangerous. Perhaps we were toting precious cargo or passengers. The territory is filled with bandits and people who would shoot you dead as quickly as say hello.
The third piece is named "Hellish Ritual." We start with a children's choir chanting in quick, staccato style. I wanted to use the innocence of children's voices in a darker, stronger way, so I combined them with a heavy drum kit, some dark strings and low, blaring brass. They have a lot of echo in their voices as each syllable fades for a really creepy effect.
"Majestic Dreams" is the fourth piece. It's all harp and smooth string sections until the end where a lower tuned flute enters very briefly. This music is very dream-like and calming. I pictured myself in a fantastical, pure forest with friendly animals and mystical creatures roaming everywhere. There isn't anything to fear here. Just tranquility as far as you can see.
The fifth is "Darkness at the End of the Tunnel." It's a play on words as this track is very gloomy. It's kind of a mix of short melodic work with background ambience. I first saw this as a detective, Noir kind of thing rather than horror, but I'm sure it could fit a lot of different darker applications.
Then last up we have a pirate kind of track. I realized I haven't really done anything like this before, so I wanted to give it a shot. I used medieval style instruments that gave this a tavern/port city kind of air. I pictured a crew either searching for treasure or anchoring into port after a long haul.
I'll start a private poll for the second tier and higher to cast your vote for the piece you want finished. Voting will end October 28th, so you have plenty of time to decide!
Thanks so much for your patience and continued support! I hope you've all been well and I hope you enjoy the music!
