Today we have the November poll ready to go with six new samples!

The first track is "LIght a Candle for Me." It starts with some reflective, echoey guitars. Those six beginning notes really anchor this track immediately. Though this is a heavy piece, it wasn't all about straight sadness for me. There are hints of good memories and once happy times carefully tucked away in its crevices. And maybe even a hope that things will once again be as they were.

The second track is all about the formidable power of a well established villain or group. It's called "The Seat of Power" and I had in mind a kind of Final Fantasy 7 "Shinra's Theme" thing. For the deeper, short-bursting horns that enter later, I saw them as having a light touch of fanfare, as if this evil corporation or person knew they were firmly in charge so they decided to flaunt it a bit and there wasn't anything you could do about it.

"A Robust Crew" is my second attempt in as many months at a pirate theme. This one is a little more lively than the last and after having heard how it turned out, I could easily imagine this as a medieval tavern theme. I decided to stick with my original idea though and make a theme for a successful pirate crew cruising the seas. The idea for this one, just as I did in the last, was to make the instruments all things they could carry and travel with. We have a lute, hand drums, citole and the fiddle as our lead.

The fourth is "Demento the Clown." For some reason that name just popped into my head while I was writing this, so I went with it. I usually struggle with titles and since this was gifted to me so easily for some inexplicable reason, I decided that it was meant to be. We start with some creepy, off-kilter piano which gives us a dark mood with a slight hint of some kind of evil carnival. That feeling gets vamped up nearly 30 seconds in as I bring in an organ in the background and we go full psycho clown.

Next up is "Ancient Rite." This is an intense, Celtic track. I originally pictured a super-strong warrior type when I first started writing with the building, epic percussion. But as I progressed with the Irish flute and Uilleann pipes, I started feeling a mystical vibe mixed in there, which I quite liked. I'm not sure if that will come through for all of you, but I went with it, hence its name and the accompanying image.

The last one, "Unnamed Uplifting Piano," is something I came up with on the fly. It felt like it had been a little while since I had done an upbeat piano thing. I had recently seen a couple animal videos on Youtube and it seems like every one has some uplifting music in them, so I figured I'd try throwing one in the pot. And now we have this kind of silly piano, flutes and strings thing!
