I've been reluctant to buy a Shelix for my jointer, because the jointer is 10 years old and I'm worried it will die right after I invest in a $350 cutterhead. I was hoping the $80 straight carbide knives were a good long-enough-term solution, but the carbide nicks a lot easier than I expected so I've already had to shift the knives a couple times.
