It takes a long time for router bits to get dull, especially for a hobby woodworker, but for some reason I decided to send most of my 1/2" shank router bits out for sharpening. That was an expensive mistake. Try cleaning your bits with Simple Green first to remove all of the pitch, and you might find that they don't even need sharpening.
