Forza Horizon 5 is a technically advanced racing game from Playground Games Studio and Microsoft. The game boasts dense jungles, detailed terrain, superb lighting, and an overall photorealistic looking image. As such, it can be a very demanding game when maxing out the settings.
Creative director Mike Brown outlined in an interview how developing the game for systems with an SSD allowed them to make some interesting design decisions. On systems with an HDD, the game has fairly lengthy loading screens between the stages in the Intro Drive. On systems with an SSD, the loading screens are entirely eliminated. The disk activity metrics in this benchmark shows how that was accomplished - super fast read speeds from disk during the stage transitions, peaking at 510 MB/s.
We tested the game on a RTX 3080 Ti, Ryzen 5 3600, with 32 GB of RAM, on Windows 11 installed on the ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB.
