Seagate released a firmware update a couple of months ago aimed at improving DirectStorage performance. In this video, I compare the new firmware (SU6SM005) vs the stock firmware (SU6SM003) in both DirectStorage and non-DirectStorage workloads.

The new firmware provides a performance boost in both DirectStorage and non-DirectStorage workloads. This is an important update that will increase the drive's bandwidth in DirectStorage workloads, but also its sustained performance, allowing it to maintain its maximum bandwidth for hours on end.

This new firmware breathes new life into the FireCuda 530, and it is available for free to all current and future owners.
