Fort Mackinac Is A Sight You Need To See - History & Heroes, Cannons & Courage
On our trip to Mackinac Island, we went to Fort Mackinac to take a self-guided tour of this historical location. To get there, we actually got off of our Mackinac Island Carriage Tour at the entrance to the Fort...very convenient! We had a great time exploring the entire Fort, all the buildings and the grounds, and taking in the history of this once active military outpost. It was very informational and interesting, and there were several great uses of technology to inform us about the daily workings of the Fort and the soldiers that served there. We were also fortunate to be there for a few of their daily
demonstrations: rifle firing, cannon firing, flag lowering, and flag folding. It was all amazing, and we feel that going to Fort Mackinac is a "must-do" when going to Mackinac Island! Thanks for watching!
