We Saw All Of Key West From The Lighthouse! This Tour Was Fun & The View Was Incredible!
We went to the Key West Lighthouse & Keeper's Quarters location at 938 Whitehead St, Key West, FL 33040, went on the self-guided tour, and we loved it! The 100 foot tall lighthouse looks incredible from a distance and even more so when you're standing next to it. It's 88 winding steps to the top, and once you get all the way up, there's a narrow, circular landing that you can walk around and get a great view of literally all of Key West. As you walk clockwise around the platform, there are informational placards that point out various Key West landmarks and places of interest, so that you know just what you're seeing. We went up on a beautiful sunny and clear day and we could see for miles. After we descended the 88 steps (it's much easier going down them - HaHa), we went to the Lighthouse Keeper's Quarters, which are a short walk away, and toured them. That was very interesting, and it's basically a museum full of historical information about the lighthouse and the duties of the Keeper's in the past. We completed our visit by going through the gift shop and buying a few souvenirs. We had a great time touring the Key West Lighthouse, and would recommend it to anyone who feels they can handle the 88 steps to the top. If you have a fear of heights, it might make you a little queasy (Donna - "It did it to me!"). Thanks for watching!
