John Britt recently made two videos about a spotted purple glaze. I had to try it myself.
For me, a big consideration is firing schedule. My kiln is just big enough where a special firing schedules for one glaze color isn't practical. Also, my Laguna B-Mix clay bloats badly above Cone 5.
Because of that, I want all of my glazes to be tested and modified to work in my Cone 5 schedule. There are so many variables in glazing that every potter will need to make sets of tests to find what works for them.
In this case, I simply made the glaze as per the recipe and fired it.
