A Fayetteville-Manlius High School student is speaking publicly for the first time after filing a proposed class-action civil rights lawsuit against the school district over its response to a poem she read during a heritage assembly in May.
Sixteen-year-old Dahlia Saada, through her father and guardian Fahed Saada, filed the lawsuit Thursday August 6th in state Supreme Court in Onondaga County against the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District, its Board of Education, Superintendent Magda Parvey and several unidentified defendants.
The lawsuit accuses the district of violating Saada’s free speech and equal protection rights, among several other claims. The allegations have not been proven in court.
