Two really nice flugelhorns are played here; Bach's old 182 model, and a new(ish) offering by Dillon - their Rose Brass Dillon Flugel. The Bach is SO easy to play - because it plays a lot like a trumpet; .460 bore (and probably a trumpet valve block) - it's fun and easy to play. Their are lingering fears of intonation on this flugel - especially above the staff, but I find it a fun horn to play and I haven't noticed big intonation problems. A modest flugel mouthpiece often curbs a lot of flugel intonation problems. The Dillon flugel is perhaps the best flugel bargain you will find; it's a really close, really good copy of Yamaha's 631 flugel. Frankly, it's not just affordable, but it's a very nice flugel. I struggle in this video some, primarily because I rarely play the Dillon and, with its smaller bore, it merits a bit more practice than I give it. AND the Bach flugel is just SO easy to play! :) Mouthpiece and clips are listed below. The Reeves flugel piece is unmarked but it's fairly shallow (for a flugel piece) and has a throat of about a #23 drill.
