This acrylic pouring fluid art piece was poured by my daughter, Lauren LaRee, on an 11X14 inch cradled gesso board. Several acrylic paint pouring techniques were used. A dirty flip cup was floated over white acrylic paint thinned with our diy pouring medium. A silicone blade squeegee was used to partially swipe ribbons of white across the other acrylic colors and a straw was used to blow the fluid paint into place. Additional ribbons of turquoise and gold were added as well.
A few drops of Rain-X were added to each color (as an alternative to silicone), except the white, to help with the creation of cells. 99.9% Isopropyl Alcohol was added to the thinned white acrylic paint which helps to create the thin veil of white we call the “ghosting” effect when the white is layered over the other colors.
