Acrylic pouring with silicone, does it matter how well you stir the silicone into your paints? How many times have you heard “Stir it a lot for small cells and stir it a little for big cells?” That hasn't been my experience while making fluid art, so I thought I’d do a side by side comparison.
Treadmill Silicone - amzn.to/2rNV8CN
In the end, once the pieces dried, I did not see a noticeable difference in the size of cells. The pour with more stirring did seem have slightly more cells of differing sizes in the end and the cells seemed to have more colors breaking through within them.
What I did notice on the piece where the silicone was not stirred in as well is that the surface after pouring was not as smooth across the canvas. There were divots where the silicone pooled on the surface. There were also several spots where the paint weave of the canvas could be seen.
Whereas the one with the silicone that was well dispersed through the paint with stirring had a smooth surface with no divots or pitting caused by the silicone.
