How to flash a light using relays:
I originally constructed a similar circuit using type 3000 relays when i was training to be a tester, the task was to produce a pulse every second, i managed to get a pulse every half second with the amount of relays i had used, then added a capacitor to slow it down, the instructor like the unique way i approached the problem, i was 17 at the time.
The system works like this:
Operate relay 1, the normally open contacts close, and this operates relay 2, those contacts then close to operate relay 3, and so the chain goes on, that is until the last relay operates, this uses the normally closed contact to remove power from relay 1, this in turn releases all the relays in turn, when the last relay releases, power is again applied to relay 1, and the cycle repeats.
The capacitor i add is in parallel with the coil of the last relay, this holds the relay on for a period of time depending on the value of the capacitor.
