If you want to get the attention of an audience, you need to do something that makes them take notice, an explosion, a burst of fire, or in this case firing up a sparg gap Tesla coil, it's loud, and has a spark (albeit a small one)
After a few iterations, i have finally constructed a compact Tesla coil there have been a few problems, the first design suffered from arcing, the second (in the box with a horizontal coil) also suffered from arcing from the secondary to the case, so the coil is now vertical.
The other aspect i wanted was to be able to point the grounding rod (jesus stick or chicken stick) at the breakout point and have the coil fire up with the use of a laser pointer in the end of the stick.
The idea is that the coil is disguised or hidden, only revealing what it is when fired up.
This coil will have an unusual topload that no one will suspect, and it will seem as if the arcs are coming from the stick.
I'm still having issues with the trigger circuit, but felt i needed to upload progress as it''s been a while since the last video.
