Last fall the remnants of Hurricane Florence gave us a significant flash flood in the middle of the night on September 18th 2018. While our home and the farm fields were remarkably undamaged, the flooding in the creeks and on our road moved an astonishing amound of gravel, boulders and sediment. Along with all the natural debris there was an astonishing amount of man-made garbage that was washed down onto our property and we are in the process of cleaning up before the vegetation begins to grow and makes some of it difficult to see and collect. The range of garbage is pretty varied from things you would expect, like tires, plastic bags, and beer cans to quite unexpected things like a cast iron bathtub. Its all part of living in the country in these modern times.
