In this webinar, we explore how the team at Clemson University, including Drs. Shanna Hirsch, Catherine Griffith, and Samantha Scott, have been utilizing mixed reality simulation to enhance their undergraduate special education and general education programs since 2019. The simulations have been integrated into nine different courses, covering essential topics such as explicit instruction, data collection, and collaboration. Over 500 teacher candidates have participated in these simulations, preparing them for real-world scenarios like IEP meetings and working with families. Research data collected by the team indicates that the simulations significantly increase students' perceived knowledge and confidence in key skills. Despite challenges such as high costs and extensive planning, this webinar provides an in-depth look at how Clemson University is leveraging mixed reality technology to enhance their teacher preparation programs.
