After a long day on the road, I wanted to unwind with some easy-going music to calm my nerves and simply enjoy playing. I chose a booklet I recently bought by the forgotten English composer Bruce Steane (1866–1938).
I played five peaceful pieces a prima vista in a row, using five different quiet registrations that I had programmed earlier for other music. It was a bit of a gamble, as I had no idea how well they would suit these pieces. But when I listened back afterwards, I was glad I had pressed the record button. I think they turned out rather beautifully. This is exactly the kind of music that helps you slow down and unwind.

London native Bruce Steane began playing the piano at the age of three. At the age of eight he became a chorister at the Church of St. Augustine, where he was already organist at the age of 12. After studying the organ, he held various positions. He composed over 400 works and received several composition awards. He wrote 120 works for the organ.
