Join us in South Baltimore at the front gates of Mount Auburn Cemetery. It was started in 1872 by Sharp Street Memorial United Methodist Church and was known as “the city of the dead” for Black Baltimoreans. Many prominent individuals were buried here including legendary boxer Joe Gans, Civil Rights pioneer Lillie Carroll Jackson, and influential attorney W. Ashbie Hawkins.
