In a trial that could impact every family in America, Meta — the parent company of Facebook and Instagram — is defending claims it is using features to addict kids to social media.

The lawsuit alleges Meta is contributing to the decline in mental health among young people, and also claims the company is collecting data on children under 13 without parental consent.

Vincent Joralemon, director of the Life Sciences Law and Policy Center at the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology, joined Spectrum News political anchor Tim Boyum to break down the first week.
