Okay, so before this description starts I will preface by saying that this is an entry to the 2 player creator contest hosted by Gecko and myself. As such, I will not discuss my personal opinions on the quality of the level within the description, as I don't want to give my personal thoughts before the results are concluded.
When I initially launched the creator contest, Akunakun was rather quick to join the server. To the best of my knowledge, he has wanted to make a sequel to his other 2 player extreme, 'me when machine gang' for a while now, and I assumed at the time that the launch of the contest was what motivated him to actually build the level. Fast forward a couple months, and he released the full layout showcase to YouTube with around a month left until the contest deadline. Needless to say, I watched that layout many times over and the best word I can use to describe my feelings is that I was just simply terrified. It looked so unbelievably hard and then concluded with the most insane ending I have seen in a level in a really long time. However, I had some hope as although I know Akun can be an extremely fast creator, the level still had to get verified before the deadline and a level of that difficulty required two absurdly skilled players to meet up and verify it once the level was finished. I knew for a fact it couldn't stay that hard forever, but since the level was for my contest I knew I would at least have to learn the level in full to be able to judge it.
Akunakun did end up getting the level finished, but there were some extreme complications in regard to the level getting verified. With the recent world events in regards to wars, the verifiers of the level along with the verifiers of another entry were physically unable to meet up in person to verify their respective levels before the deadline due to having to stay at home. As a result, the verifiers of you when bee crusher had to be changed last minute, and on the final day before the deadline those new verifiers got 88% and weren't able to finish it off. As a result, we made a last minute extension to the contest for finished and unverified entries, giving a very small handful of people an additional week to verify. Around 11 hours after the original contest deadline, the backup verifiers to bee crusher finished it off and the level was uploaded to the servers the next day. I was meeting up with Gecko to judge contest entries only 3 days later and I was very caught up with university assignments, but I used up some of my free time to learn the ending of the level.
Gecko and I played every single other entry and had them all completed by Saturday evening, and we had until Monday evening before my train home. As such, there was nothing else to do but just full send you when bee crusher to get as much experience as possible with the level to confidently give a score to it. By the end of Saturday night, we had both learned the level in its entirety and got like 20% from zero. The next day, muscle memory sank in a LOT, and we got 77 and 78x2. Progress halted heavily though, as the dual ship at 20% was insanely difficult and passing it would happen once every 20-30 minutes. We were in a very awkward position where we were actually able to beat the level, but doing so was not a guarantee and as a result it got quite stressful. We decided to sleep early that night and get as much rest as possible so we would be completely locked in on the last day. We woke up Monday morning and by the time we had got up, eaten, and got dressed, we had roughly 5 hours before I had to pack everything up. Within 30 minutes of warming up, we got our first run far into the level and we fluked all the way to 91, with Gecko dying to the last straight fly. This put us in a position where we COULD definitely beat it, but the pressure was really on. However, after 75 minutes and multiple deaths to the ending, we actually managed to beat the level with less than 3 hours left.
We had no intention of rebeating this on my account, however with a few hours left we decided it was worth a try. We had literally no stress for a second completion, but by some miracle we pulled a rebeat out from a 25 minute session with less than an hour left. Usually I like to upload the completion done on my own account, but the reaction in completion 1 was much better so that is what you are watching here. Overall, I am really proud of this completion due to the time constraints we had. Thank you again to Gecko for the meetup, it was awesome! I wish anyone who tries this the best of luck.
