I discovered this level in an online game in which you get 10 levels from the Global Demonlist and have to rank them based on their difficulty. Since the Global list contains unrated levels, there were a handful of unrated levels I thought were really cool that I sent. This was one of them, and I thought it was really cool and a solid Feature send. The next day I was in call with VoltreN who was playing Ghoul following us discovering it. She was really enjoying it, and I decided to do a practice run. I was so unbelievably surprised at how good the gameplay was, and I immediately upgraded my send from a Feature to an Epic.
This level has some of the most satisfying gameplay I have ever played. On top of that, it is playtested so well to the point where the gameplay doesn't even feel that challenging, which made it really hard to decide on how hard I found it. The last 33% is probably the hardest third of the level, but you can get there so consistently that it didn't feel like a chore at all despite my multiple deaths to the ending.
This level is also completely solo created and verified, which to me really adds a lot to its character. In terms of design, the level looks really well polished for a grayscale level, and while I do think this level could be enhanced visually with some stronger pulses, shake triggers, and some dark shades of crimson in the structures, as it stands it looks really nice and it's clear a lot of care was put into its creation.
This is my new favourite level in the game, which had previously stood as Storming Summit for two and a half years or so. I wish I could put into words just how satisfying the gameplay is to pull off, but the best I could do is boost the volume of my click sounds while editing to show just how well synced it is to the song. I highly, highly recommend anyone who is good enough to play this level to give it a try, as despite being unrated I know this would become a favourite for a lot of people. Zoink Doink, the first victor of the level around 7 months ago, called it 'the most fun extreme I have ever played', and VoltreN who beat it an hour or so before me said 'this is the most fun raw gameplay I have ever played.'
Needless to say, while I am sure this won't be enjoyed by everyone due to the last 33% being the hardest third, this is some of the best reception I have ever seen towards a level of this difficulty. I really hope this can get rated soon, as it has gone undeservedly unnoticed for far too long.
