I took almost a year off from running (september 17, 2024 was my last run), not really because I wanted to but because I had to. You see, once I started this new job, I started drastically losing weight over 2-3 months I lost almost 15 lbs .... even though I eat like a pig. I needed to find a balance, so I tried eating even more but it just flatlined where it was at (sub 130 lbs). So then I stopped working out and over a couple months it started to slowly come back up ..... but then it flatlined again without working out and started declining again. So then I cut my hours back to part-time instead of full-time and it evened back out again and came back up very very slightly (and all of this time I am eating about 7,000 - 10,000 more calories a week than I need to, craziest thing ever that I should be gaining 2-3 lbs a week but either holding or losing)
Anywho, the job is pretty demanding but its all zone 1 and zone 2 with just barely touching zone 3 every once in a while. So sunday I decided to try to work on some upper body strength and also get into zone 3, 4, 5 more .... bowflex max workout and I maxed out the resistance and never even touched the water bottle. I did a video on that and if its published, it is here: youtube.com/watch?v=a3QNILyR27s
Today I decided to do a treadmill run. I figured I would struggle but nope, easy peasy .... what started out as "lets just see if you can run a mile" ended up being about 2.62 miles and I never even hit zone 5 (was almost entirely zone 1,2,3,4). I could have easily done 5k but I used a preset targetted run in my watch and I only had 30 minutes ... since I started out slow trying to just get 1 mile, I burned up too much time to get a 5k in 30 minutes ... but I could have done it.
I miss running .... but I need to find a balance between what I can eat (currently 5,000 - 6,500 calories a day) and what I can do physically (my job is about 3,500 - 4,500 kcal burned per day but I only work 3 days a week). This unable to gain weight has been a struggle now for 5 years, and I have no explanation for it .... a few weeks ago, I figured it up going by calories in vs calories out and I should weight 1,342 lbs give or take lol
