Plan C | First Stab at Detachable FPV Module for WLToys V222/V959 @Plan-C | Uploaded June 2015 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
My first attempt at a lightweight/nano detachable FPV module for the WLToys V222 or V959. Uses a 120 degree field of view camera, homemade cloverleaf antenna, TX5823 video transmitter, small 150mAh dedicated 1s lipo for both camera and vtx. Unit has additional pigtails to be powered direct from flight pack in an 'emergency' if the FPV battery runs out but picture is not as good due to lack of a dedicated LC filter to camera (...yet). Pololu 3.3v step-up/step-down regulator supplies 3.3v to the vtx. The camera is powered direct from lipo. Good results so far in terms of range and image quality. AUW of fpv gear so far is circa 25g including heatsinks, separate fpv battery, mounts, wires and everything. This compares to circa 9g for the original (non-FPV) camera that came as stock. Hovers at about 70% throttle and gives circa 6 minutes flight time. Some further weight savings need to be made as throttle response is too sluggish given the extra weight but seems to be coping well.
