Gilland is pretty annoying as per usual, but its not too bad of a fight. Gilland is slow but has lots of range while Celsius is a speedy close-range combatant. Its a boss set-up that Tales likes to use a lot and one Im particularly fond of myself. These two also cant be guard manipped, so theres no knowing what arte theyll use next. Whats interesting about this fight is that Milla is forced to fight them both linked and unlinked. I cant just rely on forcing a link through the aerial hang because Gilland can use the Heal Shot arte even when Im not in range. And Ive seen him spam this to heal himself and Celsius for lots of HP.
When theyre unlinked, Im focusing on hitting Gilland after I get Celsius pre-occupied. There are a few ways I can accomplish this. My preferred method is to move far away from the both of them, jump over Celsius, then attack Gilland while shes attacking air. This works because Celsius is so much faster than Gilland so by the time shes in range to hit me again, Ive already taken Gilland to the air. The only problem with this strat is that it is possible for Celsius to anti-air me with Frost Spears. This arte feels pretty rare though, so I dont feel bad about going for this strat consistently. I can also pre-occupy Celsius by proccing her counter or by knocking her down with Death Knell or something. When it comes to attacking Gilland, its best to always engage with Lightning. Grave is very dangerous to engage with since Gilland can dodge it easily if he uses his sidestep normal. When it comes to dealing with Gillands counters, the safest way to deal with both Incendiary Arc and Scatter Bolt is to simply jump away from him.
When theyre linked, I can pretty much deal with them as I would any other link. Gilland is always the link leader and he is very unlikely to use normals while linked as he prioritizes using artes that can go into a linked arte (though many of them are bugged and he cant actually use a linked arte off most of them). This makes it pretty safe to engage with Grave unlike when theyre unlinked. Gilland can, however, use Perfect Exile off of Poison Shell so I should try to cancel this arte everytime or retreat in to the air as fast as possible if I see him use Poison Shell because this arte is FAST.
When it comes to fighting Celsius, shes really easy for Milla. Her artes/counters dont reach too high so its pretty much a free meal for Milla unless Im trying to style on her or something. That being said, she does have one arte that can anti-air and this is Frost Spears. But if shes alone, I can simply cancel this arte with Lightning as she approaches.

![Tales of Xillia 2 Milla Solo: Volt [No Items/Unknown/No Damage]
Oho, a real fight...

Strategy:
There are two parts of this fight that are little difficult. The first part is taking out the Djinns that Volt has to accompany him. These Djinns are very floaty so theyre actually pretty weird to combo. You can even see Shimmer Spin send one behind me at 0:11 so I had to adjust with a backwards air dash lol. Thankfully, Im pretty much safe when Im comboing them high enough in the air as Volt doesnt really have any anti-airs. I do have to be careful of random Thunder Volleys or Bolt Strikes when Im coming back down to earth though. Bolt Strike can be casted by every enemy in this fight and it has a pitifully low vertical hitbox, so being in the air pretty much makes me safe from it.
The second difficult part is starting a weakness combo. Volt is only weak to gun, so this means I have to use Condemnation to start my weakness combo. Unfortunately, this is a bit tricky since Condemnation is a multi-hit attack. To start a weakness combo, you have to hit a boss with a weak hit and then a hit from another element, so 2+ gun hits in a row wont start a combo hit and will more than likely proc a counter instead. This means that I basically have to start a weakness combo with the last hit of Condemnation to make it work. This would normally be pretty easy since Condemnations last hit is ranged, but Volt has iron stance we gotta break through first and hes not just gonna stand there and let me hit him either. This is where guard manipulation makes a comeback. We can guard manipulate him into doing two attacks. Its a 50/50 between him casting Bolt Strike or using an attack where he sorta spins in place and then taunts. I wanted to use the latter attack to start a combo since the taunt leaves him completely open, but Volt wasnt being very kind to me so I used the casting time of Bolt Strike to do it instead. Before I use Condemnation, I try to soften his iron stance up just a little bit with Sigil Spear so that itll hopefully break on the last hit of Condemnation (no calculations or anything here, just praying).
In the combo, I do a double Condemnation at 1:22 to reset the weakness combo. The first Condemnation mark knocks him down and the second hits his weakness after the timer runs out, which allows me to easily restand and reset him with Grave.
