Using the standard Linux webcam program "motion", I was only able to capture a few frames per second at high resolution. Some tinkering on my own shows that it's possible to make better use of the Raspberry Pi camera, and record native h264 video in response to motion it detects within the frame. There are a few details which aren't working properly yet, but these are the first four captures producted via a trial run of my software (incidently, written in Python).
