🐧 This video demonstrates a firmware update using an experimental GUI tool based on fwupd, which allows installing new firmware versions directly from Linux user space. Developed by Canonical as part of Ubuntu, the tool is written in Dart and Flutter, and its source code is available on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. In this example, we update the UEFI BIOS on a Lenovo ThinkPad T490. Using the same approach, Ubuntu users can easily update firmware for a variety of built-in peripherals, such as webcams and fingerprint readers, on both laptops and desktops.
