LANSING, Ill. — February is Black History Month in Lansing, and citizens are urged to observe the month with appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities.
Village President Brian Hardy read a proclamation regarding the occasion at a Village Board meeting on Feb. 17 and noted that Black History Month began being celebrated 100 years ago.
“During Black History Month we honor the extraordinary contributions made by African Americans throughout the history of our Republic and we renew our commitment to liberty and justice for all,” Hardy said.
Also on Feb. 17, the Village Board gave final approval to a number of resolutions and ordinances that had been presented at a previous Committee of the Whole meeting.
