Ey up firebugs !

...With all the grinding & polishing I've been doing on the firestones I needed to get back to what I really enjoy doing. Making fire.

...I have a few of these fast growing moringa oleifera trees in the garden & was curious as whether it would be a suitable fire plough candidate.
.
...As I mentioned its a very light wood & it needed a wider tip on the blade as it snapped on my first attempt. I had a few issues with the blade slipping off as the hearth wasn't seated quite level but I did eventually coax out an ember from it.
.
...So now I have another option. Not quite as good as the Malayan cherry but maybe with a different blade used in combination it could be a good option.
