It's very easy to just instantly erase this boss in a couple turns by having Benjamin cast Cure on him, but I figured I'd make the battle a bit more interesting by using different attacks, as well as give him time to fire off some of his.
Though I titled this "Final Fantasy Mystic Quest", this is actually the PAL version, known as "Mystic Quest Legend", since Final Fantasy wasn't even a thing in Europe until Final Fantasy VII came along to set things right.
For the past few weeks, I had been wanting to play this game, but for a while I was absolutely positive I didn't own it. I was obviously very wrong when I realized that I had bought it from the Wii Shop Channel around the time it was shutting down.
This game was decent. From what I'd heard from people, I expected the game to be horrible, but I enjoyed a good bit of it. Definitely an easy game. Even though there are some BS encounters that can instantly wipe you, game overs always let you restart the battle anyway, so there's no real danger. The music is phenomenal, but everyone knows that.
Now for some random unimportant ranting. This video is the most frustrating thing I've done all month. The recording software and capture device were both being awful as usual, skipping and crackling all over the place.
I had to use a separate recording of the ending and splice them up to minimize the awful frame skipping. In the interests of visual consistency, I chose to overlay the status bar from the main video, but I had to re-render the video after that to get it into the proper aspect ratio. This is why some of the transitions may look a bit desynced between the status bar and the rest of the screen.
Took me almost 8 hours to get this right and I'm still not happy with it, but with my awful editing skills, this is about as far as I can take it. To think that this wouldn't have even been an issue if the recording tools weren't so temperamental.
Also, since I did manage to squeeze something out before the end of this year, might as well wish you a Happy New Year and such again.

Id been playing this game too much recently so I figured itd be a good time to do a stream after all this time. I was shocked that I managed to do some tricks in a single try, when I normally struggle with them significantly (like Bob-omb Battlefield island jump, owlless, Dire Dire Docks red coins poleless), but I pretty much lost all my momentum by the time I entered Tick Tock Clock.
Also, since I grew up mostly playing the PAL version of the game, I have no idea if the DDD Bowser sub lag was truly that horrible in other regions. Id heard about it, but I feel like it couldnt have possibly been as slow as the game got on this emulator.
Dunno why I didnt think to just long jump to the second ring of coins off the island for the last coin on BoB, followed by a triple jump dive into the star.

Been wanting to do this for a long time, Ive done several 120 Star playthroughs of the rando in the past. I tried to make the settings as random and wild as it allows, with the only exception being that I adjusted level exits to match the randomized ones, since itd just be extra time spent backtracking when I inevitably fail in a level. The first painting on this seed was a perfect example; imagine if I would have had to backtrack from the basement every time.
Bowser in the Fire Sea is very often excruciatingly painful, this time was no different. The rest of the seed was surprisingly kind.
