About four weeks ago, I wrapped a cup of potting soil around the stem of this fig tree and scraped the stem where it was in contact with the soil to encourage root growth.
Today, I cut it off and transplanted it into a 1-gallon pot—and you can see the roots that developed over the past four weeks.
I’ll keep it indoors through the winter and hopefully plant it in the ground next spring.
Pretty cool to see how much root growth happened in just a few weeks.
