Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection
by: OmegaSion
Yang and Ursula investigate the impact crater of the fallen star and Yang can't shake a feeling of unease.
Note: During a New Moon you will have a chance to fight a Red Dragon encounter in the Impact Crater (noted by the glass break battle animation). If you beat this monster it has a chance to drop a Red Tail.
The Impact Crater isn't a very long area to explore, and thankfully there's no boss fights there. Once you reach and investigate a gravestone we'll need to head back to Fabul, thankfully we don't have to trek all the way back the way we came as there's a shortcut near the grave that will take us all the way out of the area.
On the way back to Fabul, atop Mt. Hobs, the party spots the Red Wings headed in the direction of Fabul. Seems the Chancellor was right about Baron seeking the crystals once again.
Make your way back to Fabul but before you enter rest up, as we'll be going through a bunch of battles in the next bit without healing in between.
After some talking in the Throne Room, Yang prepares to defend the castle should the need arise. And arise it does and we go through another copy paste of the defending of Fabul...
If there is one fault I have with this expansion of the FFIV story it's that they reuse way too much of the original game's scenarios...
After fighting and getting pushed back to the throne room we find Ursula and Sheila waiting there (also you can snag a second Metal Knuckle from the Monk who takes Ursula's place in these battles), Yang tells them to go to the crystal room and a familiar voice greets Yang. In the crystal room we find the voice was that of Kain, who is here for the crystal, but Ursula rushes him.
If you chose to do this under a Full Moon like me, then I highly suggest switching Ursula to the back row. Kain will hit really hard, and, unlike the original game, if you get wasted here it's game over, so you will have to worry about keeping yourself alive. Throw some attacks in between healing, and after a few turns Yang will join the fight, which will give Kain another target to focus on. Don't breathe easy though, as now Kain will begin to use Jump which will deal close to 400 damage when it hits, so make sure to keep yourself healed up. Just trade blows with Kain while healing up and he should go down.
After the fight, however, Kain will simply jump over Yang and Ursula and snatch the crystal. Some more scenes will follow and our next destination is set. In the next segment we'll be taking a boat to Baron.
