Violent crime -- particularly gun crimes -- have been a persistent and growing problem for Arkansas law enforcement.
Several Arkansas cities -- including Little Rock, North Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Helena-West Helena, West Memphis, to name a few -- have gained reputations for violent crime. The state itself in 2024 ranked fourth in the nation for violent crime with 579.4 incidents per 100,000 people and seventh in the nation for gun deaths with 20.6 incidents per 100,000.
