Hello everyone!!
Today is Day 2 of my February video-a-day attempt! We will see how this works out, haha! I am starting a big reorganizational project in my craft room today. It started out as a small project then kind of exploded... you know how it goes! It started out as a way to make it easier for me to find my July 4th and Back to School themed supplies then changed into a full clean up. I'm not de-stashing, just going through things to make sure they are where they need to go and put things back where they should be when they aren't where should be.
I started this process by going through the storage ottoman I have in my craft studio. It's an area in my room that is tucked away where I keep all the pre-made kits and collections I have. I only get in this storage bin when I am pulling out a new kit to work with, it's not an area I pull things from when I am in the middle of working on a layout. But the problem I have been running into here recently is that I can't find certain products I am looking for. For example, I have a July 4th layout I need to scrapbook but I can't find any of the July 4th themed products I have. I don't usually scrapbook themed, but when I want to I want to be able to find what I am looking for and right now... I can't! It's driving me crazy! S, therefore... it prompted this big reorganization process that I am sharing with you.
In the ottoman not only did I find all these supplies that I shared with you in this video, but I also found...
- 17 pre-made pocket styled kits (these are kits I purchased from companies already made)
- 3 pre-made 12x12" layout styled kits (again, pre-made kits from other companies)
- 1 stash kit that I put together sometime over a year ago (oops!! forgot about this one!)
I am leaving all of those in the ottoman... with the exception of the stash kit I found. I will be sharing that with you here in a day or two. That is the next kit I'll be working with for a few layouts. I am going through every single drawer and basket and bucket in my craft room sorting through supplies and 'fixing' my organization so I want to work with this stash kit so I don't just have bags of supplies sitting around. After this kit and reorganization I will be back to the point where everything is where it should go and it should be easy to go put my hands on exactly what I am looking for! Or at least that's the goal, ha!
These are the themed categories I am working with so far... (I may add one or two more as I go through the rest of the supplies I have in my stash, but this is it for the most part I think):
- Christmas
- Halloween
- Thanksgiving
- July 4th
- Easter
- Sports
- Beach/Pool
- Camping
- School
- Travel
- Baby
- Birthday
Once I am done with this entire process I will put these themed category bags back in the ottoman for storage, but they will be ready to pull out when I need to do that July 4th or beach camping layout next time! Also, I did put the box of the themed 6x6" pads in the ottoman as well for easy access and to keep it all together.
