The Power of Daily Scripture Study: Daily personal scripture study provides a consistent opportunity for both teachers and students to learn the gospel, develop testimony, and hear the voice of the Lord. As the prophet Nephi promised, "the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do".
The Principle of Consistency: Latter-day prophets have heavily emphasized the importance of studying the scriptures every day. President Harold B. Lee warned that if we are not reading the scriptures daily, our testimonies are growing thinner and our spirituality is not increasing in depth. Furthermore, President Howard W. Hunter taught that studying every day accomplishes far more than devoting a lot of time on one day and skipping days in between.
The Teacher's Role and Example: As President Ezra Taft Benson taught, teachers must first study the doctrines and learn the gospel by study and faith before they can effectively strengthen their students. Engaging in meaningful daily study allows teachers to offer authentic personal testimony, which acts as an important catalyst to help students commit to studying regularly on their own.
