Case Type: Railroad: Campbell v. Texas Northwestern Railway
Description: A vehicle traveling home at night struck a row of railcars parked across the road on an unmarked crossing.
Visualizations Produced: Fearless Eye traveled to the accident site to gather distances, photos, video and conduct lighting studies to accurately match light levels from the ambient light, the power plant across the rails, as well as the headlights from the accident vehicle. Scan Data, CADD data, photos and video were then used to model the site in 3D and calibrate the lighting to match the site conditions at the time of the accident. Video shot at the site also illustrated that there was no time to perceive, recognize and react to the railcar sitting on the crossing.
In this specific visualization we show what the accident site would look like if reflective railroad crossbuck signs were present.
